J6 Visit To Lullingstone Roman Villa
J6 Trip
Last Thursday J6 went on a trip to Eynsford walking across the fields (on public footpaths) to Lullingstone Roman Villa.
At the villa the students answered questions in a workbook that they had made. They tried on Roman costumes and played some Roman board games. They read some books about Roman life and times and watched a file on the history of the villa. They even saw a Roman skeleton! J6 loved the spectacular Roman floor mosaic and learnt a lot about how a wealthy Roman family lived.
After their tour around the villa, we walked past a field of horses and one of the owners told us all about them. We then walked to Lullingstone Castle by the River Darent to the Lullingstone Park Visitor Centre. At the Visitor Centre we had our picnic lunch at the tables under the trees.
After lunch we walked up the hill into the woods, where the students saw some ‘Megabeasts’. These are large wooden carvings of woodland animals—we sat on them and had our photo taken. We then walked back through the park to Lullingstone Castle, and visited the Roman Villa shop before walking back to the station.
We had a really good day!
