The principle aim of the PE Department is to develop pupils` physical skills in a stimulating and inclusive environment. We provide a varied curriculum so that every child has the opportunity to discover a sport that they love. Our programme involves both team and individual activities.

In the Junior school pupils have two double PE lessons of 80 minutes every week. Lessons are usually delivered on-site; in the gymnasium or on the play-ground. Senior pupils in Year 7, 8 & 9 have a single PE lesson (40 minutes) in addition to a triple lesson of Games (2hours). In Year 10 & 11 pupils continue to enjoy a 2 hour Games session, as well as having the option of pursuing Physical Education at GCSE and Alevel. Our use of the outstanding off-site facilities at the HSBC sports ground (rugby, football & hockey) and at Norman Park (Athletics) are of major benefit to the pupils.

We also frequently run inter-house competitions in numerous sports and your child can expect to represent their house at least once every term. These events encourage competition, develop team spirit and provide an important focus for learning.

We have an ever growing extra-curricular programme which compliments curriculum sport. Fixtures regularly take place against other schools in football, rugby, cross-country, fencing and athletics. We also provide opportunities for participation in gymnastics, table tennis, hockey and frizbee.
