Our Reception class is a very exciting and lively place to be. The children in our Reception class build on their academic, social, emotional and physical development. This is where their confidence and independence is developed further as tasks are devised to challenge and inspire learning in a cooperative, caring and positive environment. Our newly refurbished outdoor area provides endless learning opportunities for our children.

The curriculum is divided into seven areas of learning:

Primary Areas

  • Personal, Social and Emotional development
  • Physical development
  • Communication and Language

Specific Areas

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

Children in our Reception class participate in all Religious Education lessons. From the youngest age, our children attend whole school masses, EYFS, Junior and whole school assemblies, services, our Harvest Festival and our May Procession.

Our Reception children also play a starring role in our Junior school nativity play.

Pupils also take part in specialist subject areas of the curriculum such as Music, PE, Computing and French, which are taught by charismatic, specialist staff.

Forest school has also been introduced to our Reception class this academic year where children are encouraged to develop their independence, safety and resilience skills in our own forest school site.
